Fun fact about your favorite travel agent, I am a water baby! I simply do not feel right if once a month I am not looking at the ocean or in a pool at some point in my travels! Thank God, He has Blessed me with 3 kids who also LOVE the water! So cruising is always WIN! With few cruise lines that offer rooms that can fit my family that does not cost more than my first car is few and far between. Ahoy, GK travelers! As a mom of three, I’m always on the lookout for family-friendly vacations that cater to our unique needs. Our recent 7-night cruise aboard the Wonder of the Seas was nothing short of magical. Let me take you on a journey through our unforgettable family vacation.
The moment we stepped onboard; we knew we were in for something special. Our spacious balcony cabin comfortably accommodated all five of us. No more squeezing into tiny rooms! Royal Caribbean truly understands the challenges larger families face, and their accommodations are a game-changer. Our balcony provided stunning ocean views, and we spent evenings sipping drinks while watching the sunset—a memory etched forever.
Embarking the ship was a breeze. No long lines or chaos—just smooth sailing. We’d pre-ordered our excursions, drink packages, and soda packages, which turned out to be a smart move. Prices tend to rise once you’re onboard, so planning ahead saved us both time and money.
Our family of five eagerly explored the ports of call. Here’s a glimpse of our adventures:
Bahamas: We swam with dolphins in crystal-clear waters. The kids were wide-eyed with wonder, and even our youngest, at 4 years old, giggled while freaking out (in the best way) as she touched their slippery skin.
Costa Maya: We embarked on a thrilling ATV jungle tour. The boys revved their engines, and my daughter clung to me as we zipped through lush greenery. The adrenaline rush was contagious!
Roatan, Honduras: Snorkeling in the vibrant coral reefs was a highlight. Our 7-year-old son spotted a clownfish, just like Nemo! And the 11-year-old? He declared it the best day ever.
Cozumel, Mexico: We explored ancient Mayan ruins. Our guide shared captivating stories, and the kids marveled at the history. Plus, the photo ops were Instagram-worthy!
Now, let’s talk about the drink package. The kids, we got them the refreshment package because they love mocktails and my husband and I got the deluxe package.
It’s not just for alcohol enthusiasts! Royal Caribbean knows that parents need their caffeine fix too. Our package covered not only cocktails but also specialty coffees and teas. Imagine sipping an Iced Lavender Cream Oak milk Matcha on the balcony, watching the waves dance. Bliss! Our kids—two boys (11 and 7) and our spunky 4-year-old girl—were in their element. Adventure Ocean® youth program kept them engaged with age-appropriate activities. From science experiments to themed parties, they were always entertained. And guess what? They were NEVER bored! Meanwhile, my husband and I didn’t feel like we were in a perpetual theme park mode. There were quiet corners for us to unwind while the kids enjoyed the kids’ camp.
The Wonder of the Seas caters to everyone. Our boys loved the ziplines, water slides, and sports courts. Our little princess adored the whimsical play areas. And for us adults, there were serene spots like Central Park, where we could escape the hustle and bustle. Whether you’re an adventure seeker, a culture enthusiast, or simply seeking relaxation, this ship has it all.
Royal Caribbean’s family focus doesn’t mean couples and solo travelers miss out. The ship’s diverse offerings ensure everyone has a blast.
